Shakespeare-
In this project we wrote an essay that involved either something from Shakespeare or one of his thoughts and re-enacted one of Shakespeare's most famous plays in class, A Midsummer Night's Dream. My role in the play was as one of Titania's fairies and I helped Titania do many things throughout the play. I also worked on the sound crew to control the sounds during the play.
I connected to this project by having an interest in Shakespeare that made me very excited to practice the play and mostly work on my essay which helped me in this project. My favorite part of this project was working on my essay for the entire class because it was very relaxed and helped me concentrate.
This project was difficult for me because I am not very good at acting and I found it very stressful to go on-stage in front of so many people. The most challenging part of this project for me was making sure all of the sounds played at the right time during the play so that it made sense. One moment when I had to persevere was when the sounds on you tube were not working at all and we had an important part coming up but we got the sounds to work just in time with Matt's help.
In this project I learned a lot about Shakespeare and his many great plays and also how to perfect my acting skills and perform well in front of a large audience. I also learned a lot about various spelling and grammar methods which will greatly increase my essays into the future.
Shakespeare is still very important in society, even after 400 years, because of how much thought and excitement he put into his many plays and how he did it in his own way by himself which turned out to be very interesting for the audience and how he sort-of created modern theater with his way of writing and his great mind.

Brave New World-
"Our task in this project was to recreate a scene from the book Brave New World in a graphic novel form. Most students were paired into teams of authors and artists, though several worked alone and handled both aspects of the task. The authors wrote a paper analyzing one of the main characters in the novel and used noun-phrase apposites and concessive theses to make their arguments. Artists focused on key choices of moment, frame, image, word, and flow in creating a graphic novel about the chosen scene. Our exhibition featured both an art show of our graphic novels, and a seminar discussion about Brave New World."
My Character Analysis:
Brave New World, a dystopian novel, tells readers the tale of people who don’t fit in with its society. The D.H.C, a very powerful Alpha, was cast out of BNW’s society like Bernard. The D.H.C. is the director of the London Hatchery where children are born from machines, while Bernard is a psychologist. While The Director is very similar to Bernard in the fact that both their lives completely changed direction after visiting New Mexico, they are different in why and how their lives changed direction; while the D.H.C. did not decide to change his life, Bernard did, demonstrating that your life will always change, but you can decide how it changes.
The D.H.C. and Bernard are very similar. Both of them had very similar jobs at the London Hatchery and Conditioning Center, the D.H.C. being the director of the plant and Bernard was a Psychologist there. “Over the main entrance the words, CENTRAL LONDON HATCHERY AND CONDITIONING CENTRE, and, in a shield, the World States motto, COMMUNITY, IDENTITY, STABILITY. (pg 1, Huxley) They also have had things happen to them that is uncommon and also looked down on in BNW’s society. They both were some of the few people in BNW’s society who were able to travel to the last remaining Native American village in the U.S. which is in New Mexico. In addition, both of them returned from that village with their lives forever changed.
The D.H.C. and Bernard do have some pretty large differences though, one of the bigger differences was how their lives were changed in New Mexico; the D.H.C’s life changed by losing his girlfriend out there and Bernard’s life changed by finding the D.H.C.’s girlfriend much later. “Linda had come from the Other Place long ago...she had gone walking alone in those mountains over there to the North, had fallen down a steep place and hurt her head.” (pg 118, Huxley) Soon realizing that she gave birth to the D.H.C’s baby, Bernard brings them back to London; the D.H.C. is extremely humiliated and resigns from his job when people find out about the child. This makes Bernard more popular in BNW’s society but in the end Bernard could never really connect and decided to move to Iceland, far away from society.
As I said earlier, your life will always change, but you can decide how it changes. I showed this by showing you how the D.H.C. had no choice as to whether or not people found out he had a son, revealing a lack of control in his life dramatically changing. On the other hand, Bernard made the decision to move to Iceland on his own, because over time he became disconnected, isolated, and severed from society. In conclusion, Huxley is arguing that your life is always changing, but if you really try you can control how your life changes.

Smart Goal-
My SMART Goal is to try to keep my GPA at more than 3.5. This will allow me to get into a better college long term. This goal will be easily measurable because I can check my grades quickly with powerschool and I will do this every friday after school. But this goal will also require more effort on my part to get the better grades. I will dedicate at least 30 minutes of extra time for homework to make sure I have enough time to complete all of my homework. To make sure that I will actually follow these steps, I will have my parents check my grades with me and also help me create a schedule with 30 minutes of extra homework time.
