Video Project:
Project Description: In this project we were tasked with incorporating a bunch of shots and lighting into a video project. We were graded on the shots, the lighting etc. our video skills and editing skills. Me and my group started off by planning out what we were gonna do for our project we had some good ideas but we decided to do it on the building of the new Health Hut, previously called the crack shack. We then planned where we were gonna do it and got to work and got it done. We found the rubric to be very helpful so we would know what we were gonna do. It helped to know what shots we were gonna do and how to do them For example if we were gonna shoot rule of thirds from a worms eye view. We came in on a teacher development day and got work done for most of it. From there we did a lot of critique from our own group instead of outside of our group critique.
- Art can be either old or new depending on who you are talking to because depending on the person you are talking to, because everybody has different definitions of what new and old are.
- Art is used in everyday life to display certain thoughts all around us. If you were to example walk around in a commercial area, looking at all of the buildings and shops would be considered art to me.
- Art is used as a vehicle for communication to display messages. Almost all art is trying to send messages, especially modern art that tends to be very political and also street art sends various messages about important topics in society most of the time.
- Some very important problem-solving skills involved in making art are having to deal with certain situations that might destroy your art like maybe a scratch or a drip of paint in the wrong spot and removing it carefully without destroying your art piece.
- Artists produce preliminary plans to make sure that they know exactly what they are doing at each step of their drawing or painting so that it is less likely that they will make mistakes or mess up their piece by doing the wrong thing.
Political Cartoon:
Project Refection: My political cartoon gets my message across to my audience because it is very clear as to what is happening and it uses irony with a quote so that they can further understand what is going on. Information can be shared artistically if you show it in a very clear manner and be careful to try to display only what is very necessary for people to understand so that they don’t get lost or confused when viewing it and know exactly what you are saying. Creating art differs from viewing art because you have to think a lot more about what you are doing when you are creating art and you have to really pay attention to exactly what you are doing so that you stay on topic and portray or describe very clear messages for your audience. All the viewer has to do is look at the art and think about what is is showing and form an opinion on it.
Pre Historic Art:
Project Reflection: I started this project by coming up with the idea to draw one of my top two favorite animals, which are the penguin and the wolf. I chose to draw the wolf because it relates to pre-historic times much better. The context around this project was to learn about what art and life were like in the pre-historic periods. Resources I used to improve my drawing skills including learning different shading methods and proportion methods but the lesson I found the most useful was perspective because it helped me the most. When I first copied my wolf drawing into illustrator it was really hard to see where I shaded and just light in general, but when I used the image trace comic art it really improved my drawing and you could see everywhere I shaded very clearly. I could see myself using the image trace tool in every single project that I draw on paper and need to scan into the computer because it is a very good tool to make your art very clear, which is a problem that happens when you scan your image in. Overall, this project was very useful and taught me a lot about pre-historic times.

Project Reflection: |
What I had to do in this project was take a picture of a teacher of my choice at animas, and ask them questions about their favorite animal, food, vacation destination, etc. I then went into photoshop and took the face of my teacher and put it onto their favorite animal and put that into a picture of their favorite place and add pictures representing whatever else they said they enjoyed in the survey.
The hardest part of this project for me was trying to blend my teachers face into the animal so that it would look as realistic as possible. I persevered through this challenge by just taking the main features of my teachers face and putting those on the animals face and then blending them in. My favorite part of this project was getting to create whatever we wanted and how creative this project was for us. I liked how we could literally do whatever we wanted and no two teacher-creatures projects look alike, even if two people did the same teacher. I learned more about photoshop in this project because before I did not really understand photoshop that well even though I have been using it since sixth grade. This project helped me understand more about blending, copying, and rasterizing my layers to refine their edges so they fit in better. I learned that I am way more interested in digital art than I originally thought. I realized that I find digital art more entertaining and worthwhile than hand-drawn art, mostly because I am better at drawing digitally. I still don’t think I will pursue a career in digital art though. |
YouTube Tutorials:
Text Picture:
For this tutorial I had to create text and then put an image under the text to show the picture through the text making it look like my text is a picture.
Original Picture:
Edited Picture:
For this tutorial I changed the hair color by taking the paint brush, changing the opacity of my image to around 50%, and changing the the layer blend mode to overlay. I then picked the color red and colored his hair.
What I did in this tutorial is I stretched this persons teeth to make them looked like vampire teeth with the warp tool.
Name Project:
In this project I took pictures of my name in nature and combined them in Photoshop to show my name.
